What happened with Jon Violas super uprated clutch from America? Did that get installed in the end?
I'm just here for the gasoline.

610 is a larger diameter friction plate than a GTA, that's if it is genuine... see it in the parts book too... you also technically want the A610 pressure plate as well

I'm pretty sure the 300 Atlantique has the UN1 and uses an A610 clutch. Not sure about the Bi Turbo ones..

The reason I ask is that the 610 clutch is still unavailable ( and my car needs one soon). I read on the french forum that a 300 owner has put a GTA Clutch in and it's holding up so far. He did say he only uses it for high days and holidays and not track days etc. That's probably where I am with my A610 so may have to go for a GTA clutch if the 610 one doesn't come back available.

Pipe and slippers Martin, yes a GTA clutch will do you fine :-) If you get too excited, it will slip and protect you from experiencing too much of a thrill all at once :-) Seriously though, Spec clutches has a couple of versions, but for your easy road driving, and need for a pleasant experience, I wouldn't go for the paddle clutch JV has got, you will hate it quickly.

Arhhh Ha!. Every day is a school day.
As I have both, I will see what the diameter differences are and let you know.

A610 & GTA turbo clutches have the same friction plates. Same dimensions same spring rates. Both made by Valeo as OEM.

The pressure plate is however different.

A well known specialist fitted a lot of A610s with GTA turbo clutches 10-15 years ago when there was an availability problem previously. They all suffered from slippage especially noticeable in 5th gear.

If A610/300 clutches are unavailable is it not possible to have your old one relined? Or have I just exposed my engineering naivety? :? :?

If the cover is in good condition you could just fit a new friction plate and release bearing as those are readily available.

Relining may be cheaper though.

Relining a friction plate is £125, I know because I checked with them.
and you need to specify what thickness you wish.

steve spectre wrote:Hi guys, glad to introduce myself at the ecstatic now owner of S877KGC, residing in Suffolk, would love to have some info as to history from simonsays74 . It came with a leaky water pump so having clutch and cam belt done while engine is out. Nearly had a disaster as there is an electronic water pump override button on the dash by the ignition with no info about it, looked like it was part of imobiliser, anyone know why this was added (why would you switch off the watt pump). Glad of any feedback. Steve

The button you refer to is an over ride switch for the cooling fans. Nothing to do with the water pump as that is driven by the engine timing belt.
There is an electrical water pump fitted at the front drivers side inner wing. This is for the charge cooler and runs continuously when the engine is running. It is quite a noisy pump as it has brass gears. I guess there are quieter pumps on the market now.
I'll pm you my telephone number.
