Nuisance light!

Postby peterg » Tue Oct 05, 2004 2:39 pm

The low brake pad warning light has started flicking on and off in my GTA, the brake pads have only covered a few hundred miles and are fine, all connections appear to be o.k. also. Does anyone know how I can disable the bloody thing to stop it flashing at me!!!!!

On other cars, I've remobed the wire that goes on the brake pad, taped it up and out of the way.
How about taking the warning bulb out, but I guess the service light will still come on?

Its probably a short in one of the looms - check particularily the wiring loom from the brake caliper along the suspension arm back into the body of the car and also at the rear as the rear pads have a warning light loom today which stretches across the sub frame to the rear - if any of the wires touch the frame metal frame work they earth through the chassis and turn the light on!

Try disconnecting the brake pad sensors 1 at a time from each wheel, with test runs inbetween, then you should identify which wheel's loom is closest to the faly earth. Perhaps an unsupported wire has been rubbing on a chassis part and is just wearing through?
