non starter.

Postby simonsays74 » Tue Oct 12, 2004 8:21 pm

just replaced all the rubber fuel hoses around the engine area, now the engine wont start.
the fuel pump is not pumping, the engine light is blinking when it ign. is switched on and there is a relay? clicking in the rear behind the seat.
the engine will turn over ok, just no fuel, so i guess that the clicking/ blinking on fuel thing are all related. :?
any ideas on what the mad french thing needs/wants me to do??

The relay for the pump is behind the rear seat, but its seems a strange unrelated coincidence. Is the pump definately not priming, or not pumping when cranking? If the latter, then the usual TDC plug check etc...it could have been disturbed moving the main fuel line feed and return.

presumably you have tried another known working ECU, checked to see if power supply is leaving fuel pump relay when starter on and supply also arrives at pump? There is also a small plug of wires near the pump which may have come loose disconnected - is this happening to you on the black beast?

Shouldnt be the ECU, as the pump will prime without the ecu connected. Could be the wiring to the pump as Demot suggested, Ive had this as the connectors have broken down, or the relay as you suggested...it just seems strange that it happened in coincidence with you changing the hoses. You can't think of any other things that may trigger it such as an immobiliser?
