Mirrors dilemma

Postby paulrob100 » Sat Nov 10, 2018 12:15 pm

Following on from Nationofzeros post about his sills. I have a similar dilemma about my GTA mirrors. as you probably know, they should be body colour. However, my car has been repainted at some time. while the paint quality is generally ok, it is the wrong shade of pearl white. Is is a bit too dark. A local paint shop said that the wrong colour primer might have been used(grey instead of white) or put too many colour coats on.

Anyway the main problem is that the drivers door mirror has not been painted the same, or may have been replaced with a mirror the correct shade. It really annoyed me, every time I walked past the car it stood out. The body shop has tried to paint it to match. Its better but still not right, so I am thinking of having both mirrors painted satin black to match the window surrounds. Has anyone done this ? and do you have pics please ? I don't want to do it & find I don't like it.

Sorry no help on an example as mine are red to match the body.

However have you thought about taking a picture of yours and making the mirrors black in photo editor or similar? Should be relatively simple - silly example just using the phone and colour changing the entire car, but you get the idea. I wonder if this is how Katie Price decided on her Range Rover?

I’ve painted the roof and mirrors on my 610 gloss black so everything below the glass line is then body colour.

Thanks both. The photo shop idea is good Darren I’ll try it.
I do like the look of your 610 with the black roof & mirrors Stephen. Maybe that’s the way to go.

Hope your having a good day at the show.

Ahh, didn't realise she started out white. I think the black mirrors look good, I need to speak to my paint shop.
