New A110 Alarm Options

Postby Griff500 » Sun Dec 30, 2018 6:42 pm

Hi all. When I configured my Pure I didn't go for the alarm option (+543 euros), on the assumption that the standard car came with a basic alarm which at least satisfies a minimum level of protection. (One of the disadvantages of buying a car in France while still struggling with the language is the difficult of asking questions and understanding the answers!). A few recent posts on the FAR site talk about the perimeter switches and volumetric protection offered by the optional alarm, which has made me question exactly what the minimum (standard) configuration is. Anybody know?

I understood that all cars sold in the UK must have a CAT1 system, since about 1995.
You could check with a UK dealer......less of a language problem.

I was sure I read about how to disable the motion detector functionality of the alarm system in my UK PE. Perhaps a procedure involving the lock button on the dash or something.

I just looked through the pdf version of the owner’s manual and couldn’t find it again - so I initially thought I was going mad.

However, I now think it was described in a little set of supplementary pages that was part pf the physical documentation pack.

Will check tomorrow. Perhaps I am going mad.

The answer from owners on Far is that the base level is immobiliser only, which meets Thatcham Cat 2, and the responder said that this is as per the Clio (in France), pointing out that this prevents battery drain in storage. I will check the UK configurator at some point to see if the UK option is the same. Surprised that such a high value car is sold without an audible alarm on break-in or towage.

I took a look today at the separate alarm system booklet.

My PE has perimetric, volumetric and connection protections. It may also have anti-lifting protection too.

I will check within the next day or so - or if anyone else wants to check, the procedure is:

To disable volumetric: With foot not on brake, hit start/stop button 4 times then get out and lock the car. Confirmed with 2 flashes and 3 buzzes.

To disable volumetric and lifting: With foot not on brake, hit start/stop button 6 times then get out and lock the car. Confirmed with 2 flashes and 4 buzzes.

Okay, having tried and failed, if anyone knows how actually to disable volumetric protection or motion detection when locking the car, please post instructions! Lol

I’ve not tried on a new A110 but on some Renaults you lock the car and then keep the lock button pressed until you hear an audible plip and then the volumetric sensors are disabled. Might be worth a shot. It’s an Alpine though so they will likely have over complicated it lol.

Many thanks Stephen.

It does seem to work - but only using the button on the key-card and not the button on the door.

Hold the lock button and there are 3 loud beeps to indicate something has been disabled. Not sure if that something is volumetric, motion or both.

Yes only works with the remote.

Also pressing and holding the interior lock buttton usually enables or disables the auto lock facility when the car is in motion but again I’ve not tried on a new A110

If only pressing and holding the Auto-Off button permanently disabled it too! :-)
