Central Locking Relays

Postby Tallman 1 » Thu Aug 29, 2019 7:48 pm

Gents,

I am trying to reactivate the drivers side central locking on my 1989 GTA Atmos, the passenger side is fine but noisy. I have no voltage according to a meter across the terminals of the door release micro switch so before trying to extract with difficulty the servo I thought it would first be worthwhile to check out any relays but from on line diagrams their location is a bit of a mystery i.e not the usual under the dash grouping.
I would appreciate any information regarding relays, if in fact they are fitted to my model.

Thank you.

Are we talking about the electric door motor system or the central locking? The two systems are separate, with separate actuators on the door locks, one if motor, the other is a solenoid.
I spent ages sorting mine, but the systems aren’t that complicated one you get your head around them.

Thanks for the response,

It was the drivers side door actuator I am trying to fix, it stopped working about a year ago, but I am a bit puzzled why I can get no reading from the volt meter on the door release switch terminals hence trying to locate any relays. The remote central locking I believe has been removed previously.

There is both a remote central locking system, and a key operated system. Both systems attach to the door locks, but in different ways. The door opening system is different.
If your car has orange instruments, I have a wiring diagram for both and can scan in the relevant pages when I get back home.
If you can pm me an email address to send them to,
Cheers

Lee,
You can find me on iain.finni@gmail.com
Could you also guide me to the actual locations of the relays e.g centre consul, under dash or other.
Thanks for the response much appreciated.

Relays for the door locking are immediately behind the stereo at the very bottom. Maybe easier access by removing the side carpet.
