Rare opportunity to purchase a genuine Spider cup/trophy engine. These are 180bhp min standard build. (Last one I had dynoed was 182.5bhp for comparison).

This additional 30bhp makes a real difference to the performance 150mph true top speed on road gearbox and sub 6s 0-60.

They have a Williams head with the improved ports as opposed to the Megane head on the road car together with a revised camshaft. The Williams head can accept vernier pulleys as it runs conventional injection whereas the megane version runs sequential and you can only change one pulley.

Clearly a genuine Harlow Motorsport engine it was purportedly rebuilt as new and then put into storage for 15-20 years.

The oil looks like new and it turns over freely and makes all the right noises.

However the sticker on the oil filter is dated July ‘96 and looks too clean to have ever been near a car. I therefore wonder if Harlow Motorsport built the engine in ‘96 and it was never fitted or run? Engine is very clean and looks to be a factory cradle it’s sitting on too.
