Postby mettersl » Mon May 25, 2009 5:31 pm

I have a friend who works at Duxford Air Museum.
He tells me that the Renault F1 team are back at Duxford this Wednesday (weather dependant) doing testing runs up the runway - normal museum opening times 10am-6pm.

Seems the local's aren't too happy about it haha!!!

'Local residents have complained about the noise of Renault's recent straight-line testing near the Cambridgeshire village of Duxford.

Recently, the French team conducted two days of running, including on Wednesday this week, at the site of the Imperial War Museum.

The Cambridge News said a local councillor has arranged to meet with the venue's boss to discuss noise concerns next week'

yet they have air displays there a number of times a year- and planes every day. I saw a Nimrod doing aerobatics there (as nearly as it could) and it made one of my children cry it was so loud.

Oh well.

I know! Some of those old planes make a hell of a noise. I saw a Vickers VC-10 landing and I swear it made more noise than Concorde taking off (which if you've never seen her, that was a seriously noisy experience)!!! Can't beat a bit of nice throaty noise though.
