Le Mans Classic 2014

Postby stephendell » Sat Dec 21, 2013 2:21 am

Wider range of cars accepted this year but camping options more limited.

No karting nord as the area is being redeveloped for a new go kart track.

Despite applying on (a few hours before ) the first day for camping I was only offered bleu nord at £78 a pitch and after previous experience am not interested in staying there. Maison Blanche was all sold out beforehand to 1st tickets one of the official resellers and they say they are all allocated. They say we can buy bleu nord at £108 from them (a £30 mark up) and be first reserve for a Maison Blanche upgrade. There does not seem any wAy to buy Maison Blanche directly at face value and that stinks. I have written to the organisers.

Anyway Renault classic have just sent the info through for their area. More flexibility this year with pre 66 Renault and spiders accepted. Places for laps @ 150 euro very limited (75 places). Entry is 83 euro including basic grandstand 103 euro with panoramic grandstand whatever that is. If you are interested in going please post below ASAP and I will investigate camping options further. Otherwise might give it a miss and focus on Goodwood.
Trafic, Twingo GT, Vel Satis Turbo x 2, Clio V6 Proto Ph2, Vel Satis 3.5, Avantime, Alpine A610, GTA Atmo x 3, GTA Turbo x 3, R5 Gordini Turbo Mid Engine, Alpine A310 4cyl, Alpine A110, Yellow Smart

That is seems a shame, that profit has been put before the event. Lets just hope that the Goodwood event has not taken to going down that path!!

I have booked via piston heads...not cheap but it's a meals inclusive package in blue nord "privilege area", whatever that means. Time will tell whether it's good value or not.

Went last year in the Spider and it was a great weekend, so planning to go again in 2014. I will go with the club if it's organised early and not left to the last minute

Stephen, I am up for a classic Le Mans trip for 2014.
Certainly prefer to be camping just a short walk from the Circuit.
Does Rupert have any advise..... he has been hundreds of times.

I need a spot for myself (2 people) and have 2 further friends who have shown a strong interest in coming and are both reliable people. Could we rent somewhere say 10 miles out and share cabs (or take Vel Satis/Avantimes). Nothing worse than a shit campsite! With one big site taken out of the equation its probably going to mean the rest are massively over subscribed. Depends how bothered people are about getting their cars on the Renault stand in the circuit I suppose. If we can suss out a travel plan I'm happy to hunt around for somewhere to stay.

Hope to be able to meet up with you all this year, we have booked a pre-erected tent this year as the chateau was fully booked again.
