In "TURBO, an a-z of turbocharged cars" printed in 1986.
This must be a very early car, "C" reg, I've only seen D's before?

Mine was a 'C reg' before it went on to a personalised plate, then an Irish plate....

All of the first press cars were 'C' reg.

Andrew will know the exact number range but in the sequence:

C32 WRK, C33 WRK, C34 WRK etc

Is there anyway of finding out the true registration of a vehicle?. Mine is a 1986 but had a private plate when I bought it..

Andrew Jones posted a comment in the past few days that the DVLA would give you a list of all the previous owners for £4, so I'd guess they can tell you the first registration based on the VIN?
Might just be worth writting a letter to the DVLA and see what response you get, especially if you enclosed an SAE?

If you contact the DVLA Historic section, for the sum of £5 they will give you all the documentation relating to your car. eg date first registered, original reg.no. first owner, if the reg. was changed, what it was changed to and the date with copies of the mot cert. noting change of reg.Also change of address of any owner, change of colour and this they will do for any changes of owner, no matter how many times the car has changed hands. So you end up with a full history from day 1 to present. Hope this helps.
