Renault GTA - A38 near Burton on Trent

Postby Frans_GTA » Thu May 30, 2019 8:28 pm

Seen this afternoon circa 17:30.
Blue Renault Alpine GTA (unsure if normal aspirated or Turbo) - going northbound on A38 between Alrewas and Burton-on-Trent.
Registration somewhere along the lines of A11 4PE or something similar.
To be fair, only spotted at a distance, and was admiring the car and only had a quick glance at the private plate - someone on here?

It was mine, A11PLE, blue Turbo. I live in Burton on Trent these days. The car is my daily driver for the summer months.

Hi Nigel - yes. It would have been yours. My passenger thought I was having some kind of melt down when I saw it!
I had G400BUY, a normally aspirated blue variant now residing down near Bath by a Member of this forum.
By Irish GTA I presume that either the car or owner are Irish?
I still hanker after the old GTA but make do with a Twingo RS Gordini - not quite the same but fun on B roads.
As an aside I used to live in Church Gresley near to Burton on Trent but now we reside near to Lichfield, just down the A38
Be good to meet at some point.

Hi Nigel
Apologies for flashing you on your way out of Yoxall...(if it was you driving) as I was on way down the hill into Yoxall and could not believe my eyes when I saw your GTA Turbo.

Frans,
I did notice someone flashing their lights. I thought a kind soul was warning of a fallen branch in the road just ahead! I was avoiding the A38 as it was stationary going north that evening. We will have to meet up.

The G400BUY is still in my ownership 5 years after buying it from Frans. Still looks like a new car with just 33,000 miles and I am enjoying every mile in it.
