GTA on Salvage Hunters : Classic Cars

Postby johnb » Sat Dec 28, 2019 3:45 pm

In case you've not seen the trailer, a new series of Salvage Hunters : Classic Cars starts on the 8th January 2020 at 9pm.

In the line up is an Alpine GTA Turbo E500 HNH and a Clio Williams. No details found yet of dates of the episodes for the two cars.

It’s actually a GTA atmo.

The episode was filmed back in March and the RAOC workshop will feature.

Despite signing a release form I don’t know when the episode will screen as the discovery website is very vague.

The new series (3) is not officially due to start until 8th January 2020 on Quest (Freeview 12) but the first episode has actually already screened. I caught it by chance last week on 20th December at 3am on Quest so maybe it was a test screening.

You can also download the first episode already on Amazon Prime.

You’ll have seen the GTA advertised on ebay for the last 6 months or so. I don’t think it has sold yet so can’t imagine the sale will feature in the episode.

I also thought the official start date was a bit odd as I’ve also already seen the Fiat 500 and NSU Ro 80 programme/s.
Look forward to seeing the workshop and your small screen debut. :)

Do you think they might keep the GTA episode back to the end as it still seems to be for sale in Banbury on eBay. (The white Atmo at 14k)

They can't have had a 'hold out yer hand' moment to end the episode...which is a real shame.

I did think the same but they haven’t got long left now even if they make it episode 6. The Range Rover didn’t sell though and they still finished the programme.

I guess they just make sure they sell one car per episode. However that does mean they needed to sell 6 of the 12 (or more) they restore...or I guess pad it out with more restotation action (no bad thing).

When I googled to see when the GTA episode is on, I did read an interview to say Paul Cowland loved the Atmo...and he gave kudos to the owners club for help with parts.

All in all...sounds like it could be a good advert for the cars.

Same here, good performance Stephen. Plenty going on in your workshop, looks very good.

A fair assessment of the GTA by Drew and Paul and looked like a good finished turnaround.

The programme information didn’t mention the GTA so easy to miss it. It’s on again tomorrow the 6th Feb at 10 pm, Saturday the 8th at 4 pm, Sunday the 9th at 8 am and Monday the 10th at 4 am. The same programme information is showing for those dates as was for the showing tonight. So assume it’s the same programme.

Really pleased with how complimentary they were about both the workshop and the car.

They obviously mentioned the boot liner and touched on the headlamp glasses but a few other bits they didn’t:

Discs all round
Pads
Master cylinder
Exhaust
Intermediate pipes
Heater speed rheostat
Air filter
Centre console lid
Door motor
Plugs
Rotor arm and cap
Gearbox Oil seals
Rocker cover gaskets
Thermostat
Central locking relay
Speedi sleeves

And more that I’ve forgotten

Whoever buys it will get a nicely sorted car

It's still for sale so it would appear that Mr Whoever has not shown much interest also judging by the list of parts they bought I would question the costings blithely thrown at the viewing audience.
