Great ! I was a member of CAR during my one year stay in the UK in 96-97 but the cost of sending magazines to australia when I returned was too high . I purchaced my GTA then & shipped it back . I have also owned R10's R12's R16's R17's R17TS's R19;s & Dauphines . But most of my time has gone into my ALP GTA ,(multiple throttle bodies) . I've had lots of questions , but not many answers , Solved the problems myself THIS IS THE SITE FOR ME!!!!

Borne out of necessity for registration at WSR events and by popular demand :D

COMING SOON:

Renault Alpine Owners Club (UK)

Benefits

MSA registered for motorsport participation
Club recognised by Renault Heritage
Discount Insurance with AON
Up to 10% discount off Samco Hose Kits
Discount main dealer parts
Special Offers at ARR
Discount for parts on this website
Discount for tuning parts from ART
Discount on club organised events and trackdays
Enhanced forum features for members
Free classifieds on main site

& more planned

Everything you've already got stays free

It has been suggested that the Alpine Renault Owners Club (UK) would be preferable. What do you think...

Renault Alpine + points

Renault like this one more for obvious reasons!!
All GTA & A610 literature e.g. workshop manual says Renault Alpine
There would be no GTA or A610 without Renault
The cars were all badged as Renault Alpines
All motor factors and insurance companies list them as Renault Alpines
This way the word Alpine comes before the GTA not the Renault
ie. Renault Alpine GTA V6 Turbo

Alpine Renault + points

The chassis plate states this
Heritage
Snob factor

BIG + point

- Managed by Mr Stephen Dell,

There is already the
ROC
RTOC
R5OC (probably)
R21TOC

RAOC could be part of a bigger ring and have more overall respect from Renault.

You choose, you've done all the hard work.
Either way, I'm in.

I like the sound of Alpine Renault better. Must admit, its more for the snob factor than anything else! Whenever i have to explain what type of car i drive, i always skip the Renault bit or people assume i drive a 5 or 19! Shame there is already an Alpine Owners club, eh... Although i used to have a Sunbeam and im in that club - sure ours will be loads better anyway!

New to this game and easily confused

Postby ken clymo » Fri Jun 03, 2005 2:53 pm

Have owned my GTA for a couple of years now and despite trying to find information on the web in the past I have only just discovered this excellent site and its links into others. I have just joined CAR, is this going to prove a waste of money? Perhaps not, I have just had Barry Jayes on the phone to welcome me. Is he CAR or linked to you either way he was very helpful and gave me this website.

I am just finding my way round it but find this forum fascinating. I hope this gets to stephendell. It has made me think about spending some money on my GTA now it is paid for and perhaps getting involved in events etc.

I live in Hull, not as bad as you might think and would like to know of any parts suppliers etc. I am not mechanically minded but have found a great enthusiastic frenchman who runs his own garage in Hull and he has been keen to help but we have problems with accessing spares etc.

I have just been reading about separate factions groups etc and am very confused. More reading might help.

Hi Ken

Postby Tony Smith » Fri Jun 03, 2005 5:16 pm

Welcome to the forum mate. Barry is quite heavily involved with CAR and many of us know him. Many people here have been or are members of CAR but personally I prefer this forum which is developing into a club. I think many of us have become quite a close knit bunch over the last year or 2 and Steves organisation skills and attention to detail are second to none. if you like to modify your GTA your definitely in the right place with many of the visitors here having extensively modified cars. Why not try and get to Rockingham on the 25th June and see for your self.

If your after second hand spares try Paul at ARR he has loads of second hand gear on the shelf.

Re: Hi Tony

Thanks for replying Tony. I would like very much to get to Rockingham on the 25th just to see what is going on. I am sadly not mechanically minded (unlike you, I have read your articles), and have never raced a car in my life. So will be very much reliant on others help and advice. My GTA is not mint, paint not brilliant. Dont know were to start spending my limited resources. (Wife two kids and two dogs and pajero eat up my income. Luckily wife doesn't know how much a second car costs to run. She doesn't drive bless her.) This was my 50th birthday present to myself.

Have had to put to budget 225's on the back just to get its through its MOT until I can afford some decent alloys and tyres so it doesn't look as good as it did a week ago! sigh!. Like the twin racing exhaust adv in ART. Oh to win the lottery.

Havn't been on ARR website have only just found out what ARR means, and don't know where Rockingham is (is it an oval banked circuit). See who you are dealing with!

I like this quote from Mario Andretti "If everything seems under control, then you're just not going fast enough"
