It looks fairly conclusive Paul, I think you will have to try a new one.... if they are still available. They are handed though, but I did read that the only difference was the little white lever on the solenoid body the other side of the top protrusion..... however I remember that another owner said he was able to change the lever from one side to the other. I also notice that its part No. is 77.01 034 489 now, and is the same for both sides, but the two previous part No`s. now superseded, for each side, were different.
Thanks for the pics, clearly yours is for the later type of lock going on the design of the manual lock button, (the same as mine) and Clee`s pic is for the earlier type. I have taken the liberty of saving one pic for future reference.
Let us know how you get on.

Hi John

many thanks for your help on this one. :D

Now to find out what else this part was fitted to to broaden the search parameters. All else fails I could go for a pre-used item.

Thanks again

Just as a matter of interest I popped into my Friendly Renault garage to check availability of these Lock solenoids.... part number has been superseded to 77 01 039 564....cost .....wait for it  ...£72.74 ex VAT, I am told there will be no problem in getting them for a long time yet as they are the same as the ones fitted to the Clio. :o

Hi John

Many thanks for that, I have a complete "pre-used" lock coming from BIG MVS at a reasonable price, but I will record the numbers you have supplied for any future requirements. Or I could just nick one of the wife’s Clio   .

But seriously thank you very much for taking the time to go to Renault and get the information. :D :D

Martin has posted the lock with aim of me receiving it by the weekend; therefore I hope to have it fitted by the end of the weekend so I will be able to update you.

Took it for an MOT today but got sent away as they could not get it to be recognised by the system!! I have to find the date of first registration and what chassis number the DVLA are using, then take it back.

A little while ago I mentioned a fault which others have mentioned, the Service light and the electrical fault light flickering. I noted today after having previously tightened the lambda probe in that although they still flicker during tick over or when the engine is not under any particular load, but when I accelerate and put the engine under load it goes out. When Richard Walsh inspected the car he advised me that one of the small hoses on the vacuum/ air side had either come off or was leaking, my understanding was that this may affect how the engine runs but I am not sure it would affect the lights I have mentioned. However I do know that these pipes can affect how the engine runs as I have had problems on my Venturi with these pipes previously. The first incident was when the pipe that is connected to the pressure sensor came off creating a hissing sound, this caused the fuel mixture to go out of balance and run very rich with the smell of fuel from the exhaust pipes. The second was when one at the top of the engine split again causing a hiss but this time the tick over went up to about 1500 rpm. Any thoughts?

Have we got synchronized flickering then or each light randomly flickering?

Hi John

The lights flicker on and off in a synchronized flickering, I have a little more information now that may or may not help. This afternoon I returned to the MOT station and had the car tested as I found the info the tester required, it unfortunately failed on exhaust emissions, too much Carbon Monoxide @ 4.5%. I have now booked it in with my local guys for a diagnostic plug in check on Saturday morning.

The CO levels were all it failed on but I got an advisory on the hand brake and the nearside headlight.

Regards

Paul.

Paul,... This puzzled me a bit until I looked in the Owners Manual. The Electronic Incident Warning Light will come on if an incident in either the Service or Stop light is triggered when the ign is switched on, So we need only look at why the Service light is coming on. This has been covered recently in the General Discussion section under "Service light comes on with Turbo boost", the relevant part which causes the light to come on is:-

1. Low fuel level
2. Dickey door or bonnet gate switches
3. Low screen washer fluid
4. Hand brake off switch, or pad wear.
....or as suggested above, chaffed wire from each of the above to the Instrument Panel earthing its self.

John

These items need to be checked in case there is an actual fault with one of them, and if they are all OK, then the wiring should be checked to see if any of it is shorting down to earth which will cause the light to come on.
The flickering could be caused by the switch, or chaffed wire being on the threshold of making contact, and it is being affected by the movement of the car.

Your MOT guys must be a little more relaxed then, as there is a test for Cat'd cars and the threshold is 1% or so I am told and 3.5% for cars that are not cat'd.

I will PM you as I have questions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
