Probably better to leave them unbalanced as it will give that lovely lumpy sound and feeling!

... and your part throttle fuelling will be all over the place between cylinders... if you want lumpiness, put in some lumpy cams :-)

Martin, Do you have profiles for uprated cams for the 24vl..also while I,m at it ,can you give me details on the gearbox mods you done on turboheads car...Rupert do you still have the 2 left over throttle bodies from John,s conversion.

Martin is with his girl today :)
Just new input shafts, more or less simmilar as GTO does, but a 2 piece shaft. I've wrote down the ratios in my thread, 4th and 5th are atmo ratios.
Martin and co had done a couple of sets in an earlier stage, but i picket the last one! Lucky me. I think only good way to go for a short ratio set is GTO, expensive, but worth it! The quaife atb, lsd diff i have is also from GTO.

Chris,
I allready have the Quaife ATB in my twin-turbo...but not the 1 piece or uprated shaft...the idea is to get it running & then uprate to 450/500 hp...the UN1 being the weak link.

Hi Eddie,

Yes can do on the 24V, atmo or forced induction, although I haven't actually tested the forced induction profile, I'm pretty confident it would be good given what it's based.

Gearbox - are you thinking of your 24V bi-turbo beast, or for something else? Depends what you want to do with it? Will has a slightly different setup to turbohead Chris, as he wished to stay OE parts understandably from a suitable and sufficient budget perspective, but with some smart selection you can make up quite a nice box for hill climb.

A little update on the slow progress with this project... I'm attempting to fit a Mazda MX5 brake servo as some of you might recall.
Here's a picture of the actuating arm on the MX5 unit:

It is great as there is a threaded end so I chopped the arm off an old Renault unit, drilled a hole down the end and cut a thread down the bore:

Then it just screws on. Here's a shot of the modified MX5 unit alongside a GTA one. It's thinner and has bigger diameter. But crucially, it fits - just.

No comments on my immaculate garage please!!


I've some adaptor plates for the master cylinder, so more pics soon.

So finally got the servo to sit in place properly. Drilled new holes to mount it and had to open the large hole that the rod goes through to line it up.

You can see where this has been widened in this pic from underneath.

See how the GTA rubber sleeve fits perfectly over the Mazda housing.

Then I have had these adaptor plates made to allow the fitting of the GTA master cylinder on to the Mazda servo.

These are the right thickness to ensure the little actuating pin sticks out the right amount (9mm as I recall) (so as not to leave the rear brakes on!)

meanwhile at the other end of the car I've been making some plenums to help get some cold air to the inlets....

First built these trays:

Then fitting these covers (anyone recognise them ?!)

Then hoses running to air filters in the inner wing area.
