Performance GTA

Postby clee » Mon Jan 10, 2011 8:11 pm

As you all will have noticed I've been playing about with the GTA turbo over the past few years :D

Running alongside the JIL project MartinF and myself have been developing a more user friendly upgrade for the GTA .

This involves reprogramming the std Renix ECU ,cams and a bigger turbo .There are a few other tweaks involved but that is the basic upgrade .
All this has been tested over a period of 6 months and we now have the results and subsequently can offer an upgrade for you guys out there that feel a bit more is needed under the boot
Power figures are subjective.I have made a point of making all runs on the same rollers so I feel confident that the increases are a true representation .The car has been tested on road by more that one driver and the feel backs up the figures

Here are the results .Power graph showing consistent pulls of the finished car and also a comparison against a std GTA with a similar turbo upgrade .
If anyone wants more info then please get in touch .

610 ecu code is locked out so would have to put in another Renix to do it but possible .Some stuff is known from Adapt run 3 liter PRV and a n other 3l Renix car .All is possible but would need some development .

More details

Postby si21 » Thu Jan 27, 2011 4:33 pm

TBH not that I currently have the money at the moment, but I just thought I would ask what basic mods have been carried out as I am interested? I am not requesting specs but it would be nice to know if this was acheived with head work cam changes, obviously a bigger or upgraded turbo and some ECU mods.

Like I said I am not trying to poach specs just interested to see how much power is acheivable with what mods?

As above Si .
Cams , Renix ECU modified ,bigger blower with mod to collector and bigger injectors .
Engine needs to come out to do the cams and this lump I fully rebuilt as it had some oil pressure issues on arrival .
No head mods but would benefit from it on the exhaust side .
Now mapped up to 1 bar and holding 14psi on road tests .

Difficult to give an exact figure and I would recommend standalone rather than Renix to get to this level of tune purely for the ease of adjustment .
With the Renix we have to log data then rewrite the chip every time but with standalone this can be done with a press of a button .I don't think Martin wants to do another anytime soon purely down to the time involved getting it right .We could piggyback for fuel and ignition .
Renix maps exist but will still need tweaking for every application .Adapt maps are pretty much sorted and we have data from 6 different setups .
Scoff is in the process of installing a RR up in Runcorn so that will make life a lot easier and safer when it comes to mapping .
Breaks down something like this + engine needs to come out to swap cams and ECU choice options .

Cams around £400
Turbo £800
Injectors £200
ECU /sensors/ loom ? £1000
Labour for build and mapping £1000

unlikely to see much change from £3.5k
