Lee's right they almost all rust there due to the metal front floor pnale and rubbish corrossion resistant.

Mr Dini's is one of the least corroded examples as it was off the road so long after it's initial minor accident it has hardly seen outside! Best rust protection he could have had!

S-i-l-i-c-o-n-e

The timing cover should've come with it as standard.... I gave up using timing and rocker cover gaskets ages ago.

Lee, try POR15, it's very good marine paint, I have used it on my ( SOLID  ) wheel arches, it does not chip, I love the stuff, I paint all my components with it, not cheap but worth the extra ££££££

I have it on some lower rear wishbones its amazing for a paint on substance; Hammerite does not even come close, mind you your supposed to do lots of processes to do a proper job degrease, etching primer etc its not cheap either but very resilient I was supprised how good it was even if the job missed some of the processes.

Another option worth considering is Epoxy Mastic 1-2-1 - I've mentioned this before and haven't found any paint that comes close in terms of strength, resilience and 'stickability'. It's basically an epoxy based compound formula that was used on the oil rigs, and you can paint it over rust, clean metal, fibreglass etc. It will not come off other than by mechanical abrasion. It's supposed to be 6 times stronger than paints like hammerite - but I don't know how it was tested. I just wish I had discovered it years ago. Comes in several different colours - from rust.co.uk.

I got my rocker gaskets from a factor, espace parts, overnight, £1.50 each, then I used silicone too as there was plenty in there already, pretty sure it hadn't been apart before.

I've used gasket and a dab of s-i-l-i-c-o-n i-n-n-i-t .

Espace gasket ?? the timing end is wrong also .90% of it is correct but the two bolt holes on the timing cover are in the wrong place and the whole gasket is too short that end

Ferzackerly. I'm not even sure Renault ever did a 3 litre rocker gasket. They deffo used silicone on the timing cover.

IIRC those two end bolts are M6 on the 3 litres. They're brilliant for punching driveshaft roll-pins out with....

Seems there is a mistake on the Renault System. Gives same part number for both sides. Definately gaskets in the 3 litre pics though.

LH Gasket A610 GASKET R/COVER 60 00 009 246 £17.71

RH Gasket A610 GASKET R/COVER 60 00 009 246 £17.71

KIT Both Sides GASKET R/CVR SA 60 01 040 294 £17.05

More to the point will it be out of the RATs nest and at WSR Silverstone!!
