That's what Phildini did - Soda blasting IIRC.

I've never tried soda blasting but looking at the photos, the crap gets everywhere.

I like the idea of starting with a virgin substrate (don't we all :D ) but that's hard work also.

In fact anything to do with repainting to a high standard is a lot of work which is why repainting is so much money.

As it looks like I was the only brave one to try soda blasting in this club, I have learned a lot from that experience and it can be done without getting the soda everywhere. If you want to discuss it further you can always contact me..... ...once you joined the club

My car had been painted with some kind of cheap flick paint effect and it reacted with the paint, it all needed to come off which was a good thing in my case because I wanted a black A610. Even though the original Alpine black is a pain in the rear end to keep clean and it shows every single minor scratch I am very happy with the end result. I personally think that colour change effects the value of the car as long that it is done properly, Ferrari's for example get painted in different colours all the time, Mr Chris Evans he is an expert on that.....

Before the soda experience, you can see what happen to the paint....

I dropped the car off for the work to be inspected and the car now has 12 months MOT.

The estimate of 4 hours labour was about right. I've not got any confidence in the power steering yet though as things don't fix themselves (although the brakes did!).

The main thing is that the car is legal so that's another A610 saved!

Now if a certain club president would allow me to joint the club ......... :D
