Venturi A300 Resoration Project

Postby PaulyA610 » Mon Aug 29, 2011 9:02 pm

Well this is where it all starts, After battling with some french buyers I managed to get hold of my dream car, a Venturi Atlantique 300 1997 R, 3.0 single turbo. The car was bought buy the current owner from new and was used as the company demo car for 6 months. It has been stood up for over a year and has not been used properly for about 3 years so is looking a bit sorry for itself.
She is in need of a fair bit of work, paint work, wheel refurb, and the interior will need a fair bit of work!! However it does drive better than expected so the greasy bit done need as much work as first thought.

Here are a couple of pic's of the car back home with me.

There will be lot's of pic's with updates as they come.

Re the worn leather seats, it's amazing what can be done to restore the finish without recovering the entire seat.

Take a look at the images 2/3rds of the way down the page - http://www.kdskeltec.co.uk/interior.phtml

I saw a set of Porsche leather seats (removed from the car) and being sprayed by Kelly when I dropped my car off last year. Results were amazing. Then again if you can trust someone to polish a Veyron......

Check out the re-touching of the red pipeing on the Rolls seats and the finished product -

http://www.kdskeltec.co.uk/rolls_royce_ ... irit.phtml

You can do quite a bit with the leather dye you can buy in a bottle but to be honest I'd be tempted to go to a pro, esp with a cream interior!

Costs are here - http://www.kdskeltec.co.uk/optional_extras.phtml (Look under the leather tab, £55-300 quid for a full re-furb and re-dye of the leather.... you've only got two seats so shouldn't be as expensive as a big old bus like a Rolls)

I recommend them only as I've seen their work first hand and it's top notch. Kelly who runs it seemed to have a soft spot for Alpines too when we were chatting.

the best thing ive found for cleaning leather, plastic, carpets, etc is bold or daz liquid. mix a little bit with water, put it in a trigger spray bottle. works realy well on door cards, seats, consoles, gators. spray it on , i use a paint brush for bad areas, wipe dry then clean again with clean water. cheaper than chips, try it :D

Hi Paul

With reference to the seats somebody has already tried to use the leather paint/dye to refurbish them on your car, or at least that is the impression I got when I checked the car out at the Dell Cave. The surface of the leather seems to have a matt finish and an unusual feel when you run your fingers over it.

This is not what the leather should feel like obviously! But I have used paint/dye to refurbish my Venturi seats and I got a very good result, but I did take my time and followed the instructions to the letter including the application of the leather conditioner as and when required by the instructions. Perhaps the job was rushed in your car and no conditioner was used?

I would post some photos of my seats and interior, before and after if I could work out how to do it!!!

Regards

You are right paul someone has had a go and ballsed it right up so i am going to strip it back and re-ink it and then re carpet the interior. I am unsure what to do with the wood, I was thinking of having it painted piano black or possibly having them carbon covered.

Leave the dashboard as it is, too much chance of maybe faffing it up and making a dogs dinner of it, or at least that is how I would feel about it. My 260 has the wood dash as the carbon dash did not appear until the limited edition Atlantique 260 this was not too long after my car, and I am happy with it as it is, but I would be just as happy if my car came with a carbon dash. Accept it for what it is my friend. Besides, my memory suggests to me the colour of your seats would be a bit too pale to carry off black wood/carbon work.

Anyway I thought it was only women who pursed the object of their desire and when they finally get the man of their dreams they then set about changing him into something else completely? 8)
