But found a new exiting bit of rot ...not unexpected ...Booooo !!!

Seems a lot of 610 have been jacked up in the wrong place up front ...This is the third one we've done with obvious damage .This fecks up the floorpan at the leading edge and really helps the road shite get a grip .

I guess the Monkeys down at Kwik Fit don't give a dam where they place the Jack...... actually that's probably the same for Renault dealers :cry:

I've got all the subframe,running gear sorted though so will take some pics of that to try and cheer Andrew up bit .

Is there a way to see that sill damage without removing the outer covers...maybe with the inside sill covers removed?
I think mine are ok, but I would like to know for sure, the bottoms of the sill covers are quite straight.
What made you open this one up? It's a lot of work just to get to this view.

You can't see all the 610 structure from the inside so carpet removal etc only shows so much .Keyhole exploration surgery initially ....Sometimes you can tell by wobbly lower return but not always .
Best option is to bite the bullet and cut a hole in the underside of the sill near the front and try and take a peak .
Trouble is there is a strengthening rib just back from the door rear that stops you seeing the area at the seatbelt mount .....

Thanks is it easy to fabricate repair panels? I have done the wheel arch fronts before (silly design, so close to the wheels they get shot blasted) the floors are perfect, jacking points, seatbelt and handbrake mountings OK too. It seems a shame to go looking for trouble. :shock:

It's my job to look for trouble :lol:
Can't really hand it back and then 2 years down the line ......but yes it can get a bit worrying and it is very likely to have rot to some extent
This one looked OK from the outside ,then whilst doing the fronts we had better access for a nose so now both sills are coming off .It is going for paint after as well .

I will try and use my snake camera :wink: :lol: , the one I used to identify the cracked clutch fork arm. I also used it on the GTA to look at he A posts, all with success. What I am not sure about when I looked at my 610 while it's asp is up in the air, it seems like the fibreglass part of the sill looks to be double skinned.

Lee C. any chance you could post a picture of the inside of the fibreglass sill?

Put my snake down the hole but you can only see so much .610 is a far more complicated structure and you can't see it all ......

Buy a snazzy camera and drill a hole.

I have two sets of new A610 sills if anyone is really worried.

Sills look much simpler / easier to fabricate.

I have found out that a mate of mine(who build police cars ) has access to a metal fabricator with cnc equipment. I also have a galvanising company in my town so I am wondering if some standard repair panels are needed here.
Battery tray, battery door, sills, wheel arch fronts, rear turrets repair...Lee had stone the wheel arch pockets already.
If they aren't too complex, a batch might be a possibility.
First I need to get my son to complete the cad drawing of the A610 battery tray, I have a genuine new one to copy....pipe dreams......maybe...especially a teenager doing cad rather than sky rim....
