RATS' Test Mule

Postby clee » Sat Jul 20, 2013 12:38 pm

Thought it about time I got a car on the road for me
Non runner from Mr Smiff that turns out not at all that bad  A few tweaks and hey presto up she fires 8)
Solid but tatty with A/C and leather .A/C will most probably be stripped out along with the leather .
Needs a few new bits ,alt ,waterpump etc etc but hopefully won't take that long to just get MOT'd for now and then use for test and tune .

Vid ...sounds a bit ropey but think it's the pump and alt mainly .Good pressure and no smokes ..

Naive question... how easy (or difficult) would it be to retro-fit A/C to my car?

Not an easy task .Talk to Jon Viola about his .
Most of the parts are not really worth keeping and best renewed with modern but there are some veryGTA specific bits you will need from the old set-up .

Hi Lee

What are the plans for the leather? I may be interested, is it in decent condition?

Cheers

Provisionally going in the grey/silver one behind ...Subject to approval ...It's 20+ year old but in good condition I would say with a few marks here and there but no major damage .
I'm asking 350 for it which I think is fair ??

350 sounds fair (I have got 200-450 for leather in the past).

Looks a nice enough GTA, I'd keep the A/C if your ever thinking of punting it on in the future as it's a desirable optional extra working or not especially to the Aussie's

I'm not going to be stripping out the blower etc etc unless someone REALLY wants it enough to pay the proper rate
I will strip off the comp/bracket power drain system ....Seal it up and poss rempve the rad .Depends how it goes when I really get started and shake it down .I could really do with doing as little to it as poss initially .

I'm not letting on what was wrong with it ,need to keep the illusion of GTA god but Tony knows .......
