Prupper Jarb John....loving this thread engine looks fantastic on the triple down draughts. Looking forward to seeing the power figures and how they relate on the road.

Tony would love to do a comparison on the cars as I would love to know what the diff ratio and carb swap is worth in terms of acceleration on my car now. All I know is I love my Atmo's performance now, not saying I don't want more but this is how they should have left the factory!! Perhaps Alpine should have developed the 2.5 turbo rather than detuning the Atmo, they may have sold more cars?

Anyone thinking of struggling on with old Solexes...dont is my personal opinion keep them on a manifold by all means but do the swap you wont regret it!!

Excellent sounds good Si. Have you now got it setup post Prescot, or made any changes - heard you were missing top end, was that just setup?

No just coils, points and condenser. No amplifier or module. I have got a pair of the Swiftune points that my friends who race historics use, just need to make a base plate but for now it seems ok. Im going to go and set the dizzy up on their Sunn Distributor dyno to see how bad the points actually bounce at high rpm.

Regarding Simons car, we checked float levels which were a bit low but replacing the fuel pump plus the feed and return lines really cured it as they were all pretty bad and it seems to be running very well now. It hooks up so well now with the Quaife diff, I want one!

I haven't updated for a while. The 310 is going well and has been to Llandow and Prescott for testing. We are running lean at the top end and the chokes are too small also so I've been making small improvements to the car as we go. The accusump works really well and the car handles great. Its got so much grip its destroying tyres like they're going out of fashion.

We fitted a carbon Kevlar group four rear hatch with fully adjustable wing. It came from France and was beautifully made. I think the car looks stunning in its current form, some of the purists will probably have a moan but everything that has been altered or replaced makes it a better car in my eyes.

So its done a few miles and been in for a service. Retorqued the head, checked the cams, new engine and gearbox oil and everthing looks good. I have a set of IDA chokes that I've modified to fit and will machine up a set of even larger chokes to try on the dyno. I also made a self bleeding thermostat housing like the group 4 cars have and changed the rocker covers. Plans are get it to the dyno and to more events.

Car went to Prescott for a training day and then up to Ace café on Monday night for the RAOC meet. Tested out the new additions- Self bleeding thermostat housing, adjustments to the throttle linkage, new pressure regulator and a changed the carburettor jetting. Going to the chassis dyno on Wednesday so that should be interesting..

The modified housing and expansion vessel.

I've just watched again the Wheeler Dealers episode again & I wondered how the car is going in its current form.
So how is it going?

Hey,

The cars going well. Not had much use for a while as Jim has been on the Peking to Paris rally so that's taken up much time.

Hopefully be doing some Swiss Hill climbs next year..

Looking classy at Castle Combe. Can ran very well and is showing signs of some speed. We now have a really good base to carry on improving from.
