I had the 3Ltr manifold vapor blasted then fitted a direct mount 65mm throttle body to replace the standard 55mm one with its 30° elbow on it to allow me more room at the front of the engine.

Looking good Ian, nice recipe :up cracking project... are you going to do any occasional sprints / hill climbs with it, appreciate it's not aimed to be a pure race weapon?

I may well do the odd event in it untill my 5 is back together. I think it will be fairly un-competitive as it would be in the over 2 litre class which puts it against Evo's, Audi swb quattro's and lots of other really fast stuff but it will still be fun.

I made some good progress over the weekend.

Managed to get the steering rack back in and the new electric power steering pump fitted all the front suspension is now on the car as well.

I am having new shocks and springs made for me as there is nothing available any more and no one knows the original springs rates even the guys in france who bought all the old stock. So the springs will be measured then re-made.

If anyone else wants a set PM me and I should be able to get another set made at the same time.

Loving the work Ian. :up

The spring rates are different between 200's, 260's and 300's and this is usually shown by white springs on the 200 and blues on the 260. The dampers on mine are de Carbon units, I bought rears in 2007 and they cost me at least £500 from Tony Boulet at Extreme Limite in France. :o

I finally managed to get hold of a clutch that would will be up to the job. I waited 6 wks for Renault to say they couldn't supply a A610 clutch which at £360 + vat which was a discounted price I think was a blessing.

I ended up sourcing a AP Racing clutch with a organic disc and uprated pressure plate spec'd at 340lb/ft for £360 delivered still expensive but a superior product . The flywheel needs redrilling but thats no big deal and the thrust plate on needs removing.

Also got the crank / flywheel back from being balanced just waiting on line seals now and I can build the engine.

Paintwork won't be done until the winter just going to drive it as is for the summer as work on building the house is about to take over so the car needs to be on the road asap it will also allow me to iron out any problems without damaging the paint.

Unless your Venturi is 4WheelDrive, they are all most likely to be in a different class. :thinking

Hi Ian,

I have just come across your posts.

My father actually had your MVS from new in 1989. He actually collected it from the factory in France and drove it back to the UK with his friends that also purchased MVS's! His was the only black one though in the UK and it is probably the only black one now!

Sadly due to a recession he was forced to sell it a few years later, but it was his pride and joy and we often wonder what happened to it.

Good luck with the rebuild, I hope you can bring it back to it's former glory. I will dig out some pictures when I am next in the loft and forward them on.

Kind regards
Mike Singleton

I made good progress on the engine over the weekend, managed to get the heads and covers on most of the systems are only on as a trial fit and ive found I'm missing some bits but by the end of the wk it should be ready to leave the engine stand.
