A310 accelerator cable

Postby Øyvind » Thu Apr 21, 2016 6:26 pm

Need to take out the cable for inspection, but it seems to have gone stealth. Do I have to crawl inside the frame or is it an easier way to get to it?

I haven't taken the cable off my car but, A310V6 owner AreTee on this forum, told me about the hidden panel in the passenger footwell.
If you peel back the carpet at the tunnel in the passenger footwell, near the bulkhead, a removable panel is exposed. Behind the panel is the attachment of the cable to the throttle pedal. I then think the cable goes down the gap between the centre steel box section and the body moulding. From memory, it reappears over the nose of the gearbox. If you remove the inspection panel over the gearbox hump between the rear seats you should see it.
If you're removing the cable, suggest you attach a length of stout string or electrical cable to the end to act as a puller, or use proprietary fish tape, for when you pull it back into place. I did that when I replaced the plastic hose between the clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder. I used stainless steel reinforced hose which you can see behind the throttle cable in the photo.

Thanks to AreTee as well, I'd never have known about it without being told.
