Back on the road again

Postby Irish GTA » Sun Jun 19, 2016 5:17 pm

I have been enjoying my GTA Turbo again after a few years out of service. It had head gasket failures brought on by poor cooling system efficiency, then massive loss of coolant from rotten radiator. I slowly went through things and got most items working again + engine repaired.
It is in pretty good shape for a 29 year old. There is only some minor surface corrosion on the steel bits. When the engine was out I blasted the sub-frame, repaired it locally by welding and took it to the galvaniser. This process is so cheap (equivalent of about £12).
The door switches unlock the doors. the speedo works, but not the rev counter at the moment. Other than that I must replace some illumination for instruments.
Most of all it is good to drive. Pictures attached.

Well done Simon, looking good. And a battery cover, a rare sight! Someone would make a few quid if they could reproduce those. :up
