London Rally For Heroes

Postby simontaylor » Wed Mar 06, 2013 12:14 am

From my Farnborough District Motor Club connection, I find that I am the Stage Commander for the last stage of this new Rally.
http://www.londonrallyforheroes.com 20th April 2013.
It is a Multistage event, covering 50+ competitive stage miles, proceeds to charity and the entry list is already 59 cars, some from Belgium, many retro Escorts as well as the odd Renault and a Fiat.
So, If you wish to come along, get close to the action and be part of history, please let me know that you are available to marshall at the Brooklands stage. Turn up at 2-30 and we will be finished by 6pm..... then to the pub.
Because it is a multistage event, you can spectate at other stages in the morning too.
I am looking for 30 marshals, obviously not all from RAOC, but a few would be great. In pairs would be fantastic.... so bring a mate.
I hear that Simon Gamblin is the clubs Chief Marshal, so I gues he is a yes.

Names please:

Simon Gamblin
1986 : '86 GTA v6 BW-EFR turbo, with Adaptronic ECU
Firsts at
2007 : Gurston Down & RAOC Champion
2008 : Rushmoor & Eelmoor & ACSMC Hillclimb class Champion
2009 : Longcross & Eelmoor
2010 : Crystal Palace & Eelmoor
2016 : Rushmoor & 5th O/A

Fantastic.

At this stage, many details are still in draft form.
" Turn up at 2-30 and we will be finished by 6pm" at Brooklands.
You will probably get to go into the museum too, cars, bikes and planes as well as see and maybe walk on the famous banking.
If you can bring a mate, that would be even better.

More details will follow.

Registered MSA Marshal

Postby si21 » Wed Apr 10, 2013 11:01 am

Hi Mr T

Many thanks for sending me the details for registering as a MSA Trainee Marshal, I am now fully registered.

I love my Motor Sport and this is a great way to get live in your face action for FREE  It is also a way of putting back into Motor Sport as the club level sprints in which I compete in at club level right through to professional Touring Cars & F1 all rely on marshals who turn out voluntarily to make the event possible.

Anyone interested in Marshalling at Sprints, Rally Stages or Circuits should send me a PM or look at the Motor Sport Associations website and register as a Marshal.

thanx to simon

had a great day out visit to brooklands is a must, what a fantastic place, and watching the rally cars from trackside made the task of marshalling well worth it.

even had to put the corner back together a few times after cars didnt make the bend correctly but a laugh had by all.

may well sign up with msa to marshal more events

Gents, MSA (UK) registered Marshals are recognised the world over as the best. Many UK Marshals use their ID card as an entrance to foriehn motorsport days out when on holidays.
I seem to remember that the first GP in Dubai was marshalled by UK Marshals who were all shipped out at the expence of the GP. What a jolly job.

Simon, Steve, many thanks for coming out to help, the event raised in excess of £13k for the Heroes. Great effort and lots of happy drivers too.
