Debden Sprint, Sunday 6th Oct

Postby eastlmark » Fri Sep 27, 2013 8:39 pm

Riku will be having another shot at sprinting on Sunday 6th Oct at Debden nr Saffron Walden, Essex. Bob Gibson's A110 and Muppet boys Clio 182 are also on the entry as is a 5 gt turbo. Can e mail entrance passes for anyone interested in coming along.
Organisers are desperate for marshalls as well so anyone wanting to get involved in that way should give me a pm.
never thought I would want a list but now find myself needing one just to remind me: Clio V6 230, 5 gt turbo, 5 Gordini turbo, Megane RS 300 Trophy.

I see what you mean Mark, although still in relatively different areas but even if they were a week apart the result or turn out would probably have been the same for both events. A shame none the less.

I reckon its about time I hung up my Helmet. It used to be that Bob Gibson would be 5 or 6 seconds quicker than me at Debden, not that I have ever ran the clio there myself, but Riku ended up almost beating him and only missed out by 0.35 of a second. (in his 3rd ever event remember)
Up against a 5 GT tubo with a sadev box as well as a RWD mk3 Escort and course expert and old hand Muppetboy in his Clio and a BMW interloper that had been forced into our class. The 5 led the timesheets all day but the gap was closing and after a "tactical" slow time on the 2nd timed run, Riku pulled off a stupidly fast 70.35 on the final timed run- easily the fastest time in class but the 5 was now on track and a great effort put in a 70.05 to pip us on line. 2nd place then with Mitchel's Clio 3rd and the escort 4th of a tight class. His first trophy then..... took me a year to get my first!
Needless to say Bob won his class with a 70.00 dead but was chased hard by a Mini.

Lydden next on the 19th.

Did he have an x box or ps3? It seems to be a great foundation.
The one time I have let My 16 year old out in a real car he scared the adult supervising him, but no loss of control...it seems to be good training!
Well done Riku!

x box but shunned the use of the steering wheel in favour of a not so lifelike controller.
