2017 Sprinting & Hillclimbing

Postby simontaylor » Tue Jan 31, 2017 10:35 am

The 2017 season has stated.
As well as entering my home club events, I shall be campaigning in 2 championships this year.
Most events allow people to come along and "watch" or to "support" their drivers.... rather than being official spectator events where a lot more red tape and entry fees put comlex demands on the organisers. If you ever want to come along and watch please do so and if asked at the gate, say that you are assisting me.

Farnborough District Motor Club and we run other events than Sprints too.

ACSMC - Central Southern Speed & Hillclimb championships - Final Calander to be finalised

Classic Marques Speed Challenge - Countrywide

First event is a new event "Abingdon Long Course" so should be good for fast cars.
Sunday 8th April, (you never know, the local RAOC shop may be open that day too, or otherwise I am sure I can arrange for parts collection from Abingdon if needed.)
No official spectators, but spectator areas are marked and free access to both paddocks.
More details to follow.
Entry form & event regulations

My entry is in, now to get my car back together.

OK, so the first Sprint event is this Sunday the 9th at Abingdon.
You MUST be inside the venue by 08-00am before the MOD lock the gates. They might be open again at lunchtime though.

Both Cedric and I are competing in GTAs, wish us luck as both of us are having a few running issues. Cedric has a bag of nails following his car and I dont even have a bag of nails in the car yet.

You "might" be able to watch the event "live" on the internet. As an experiment, there will be 8 cameras streaming the event to YouTube. All you need to do is click on the link: https://goo.gl/XHb8LP subscribe and then log on during Sunday, keeping your fingers crossed for us. You never know, we may wave on the way past.

Course map here http://scmc.co.uk/abingdon-long-course-sprint/ and we are cars 48 and 49

Next "Speed" event is this Sunday, Dimanche Sprint at Rushmoor Arena, Aldershot.
Enter off the A323 only, and park along the roud out side the venue. no charge to walk in.
You are welcome to come along and "watch" but there is no official spectating. Saying that hoever, it is a great venue to watch at, in a bowl like Brands and Lydden etc.
5 Clios, 4 A110s, 2 R8s, A310 and my GTA. Should be a good day out and with a good forecast and on-site catering its a cheap fun day out too.

The day went well, weather was good and surface grip was high.
First in class and 8th Overall.
Only beaten by track cars and specialist road cars like GBS Zero (Caterham style with a sequential box).
Car went well and is ready for Macon, Well, it need some fuel.

I'm marshalling at Debden...for the first time. It's very local to me.
Will be great if there are Renaults or Alpines there.
Cheers

Oh yeh, just what my 30 year old Alpine needs, some high tech ultra reliable Jap-Banzai-Bullet to be on the entry list. Could you simply disconnect one of his HT leads, just to give me a small chance to keep up?
Thanks in advance, I'll buy you a drink or 2 in Macon.

different class Simon so no worries.
anyway, he loves the car so much I doubt he will hammer it full chat over the bumps.

What is it, a minter of a CRX.
I am not overly bothered what class he is in, so long as I get a looking a FTD?
