Europa cup

Postby darrenbiggs » Tue Sep 21, 2004 6:18 pm

There's some very good stuff about the Europa Cup here for those who've never seen it

http://www.alpine-renault.net/europacup.htm

Some of the cars did have a very deep air dam at the front, I've a picture if you want it Simon, its a very late version in blue and white and fairly well known as it was up for sale on the continent a few years ago.

Paul Sage had a Europa cup engine a while back, I think it was virtually new and had been assembled by one of the teams as a spare but not used. I'm not sure if he's still got it but from what he told me it broke a lot of the regulations!!

As David G said it was meant to be a fairly standard GTA Turbo engine but when Paul stripped it down it was running hot cams and lightened flywheel plus a few choice extras.

Does anyone know if it's possible to obtain footage of those europa cup races on video or dvd?

Translated stuff

Postby darrenbiggs » Wed Sep 22, 2004 9:11 am

Well why didn't you say?

You can use babblefish.com or similar for translating stuff but else search in google and hit the translate button, you then get this:

http://translate.google.com/translate?h ... 8%26sa%3DG

Even if its not exactly word perfect its a lot better than if I tried to translate

Not exactly word perfect! Its complete nonesense - many car manufacturers proposing to car buyers!

In fact its hysterical!

Though I don't like the sound of this guy Jean Brigauld who passed the virus to the owner of the car in 1992

I hope this virus can't be passed through the internet!

Translations !

I don't know what you mean Dermot

"for the majority to control on circuit but also on road or ground, of the models generally resulting from the series and more or less improved"

Frankly that says it all for me.............. which of us has not been driving along in the Alpine and thought those exact same words - I know I certainly have.

Yours from the funny farm

Darren

PS I think you can get an ointment for that virus now.

Europa cup engine at ARR

Postby Tony Smith » Wed Sep 22, 2004 11:45 am

Paul does have a genuine Europa cup engine at ARR. It came via R-Sport (formerly Radbourne Racing) and had started one race and seized if I remember rightly. Was only something minor when Paul stripped it and it is now fully assembled and waiting for a home. He might be persuaded to part with it for a good offer. Hes not sure on the spec of the engine but is definitely out of a Europa cup GTA.
Alpines - GTA 3.0 Turbo, GTA 3.0 Inj (Project DD), GTA 6.2 V8 (500 bhp) , R32 Skyline GTR, BMW Alpina B10 635 Highline, Alpina B10 E39 5 Series, Jaguar 4.2 XKR, Laguna 205GT, BMW 120d.

now that's what i call an alpine
i don't have to run with a roll cage in the road going class in NI, but some of our hills are very fast and there has been a few bad accidents this year, so i think it is wise to run with rather than without. never overestimate the importance safety and the danger of motor sports.
