Deposit paid by Bank Transfer Stephen, just now.

A little surprised we have few takers this year, as I hear the route will be excellent and the weather fabulous once again.... :)

What time is anyone else taking the the tunnel?
As there are so few of us, it seems wise to stay close...

Nicci and I are going out on the Thursday as usual, so plan to meet you all at the Escatel on Friday eve. Shame the group looks smaller this year though, as it's such a good event, but I am sure we'll have a ball again.

Miles? JohnC? Any Marks?

Stephen

What is happening with the deposit? Last year you gave it back to us at the Escatel, has it been paid to the organisers?

Cheers

Paul,
I spoke to Stephen about this earlier in the week..he is planning to refund and money back to our payment source, we pay at the escatel as the last couple of years in cash or they can take cards now too,
See you at the Eurostar on Friday morning...
Cheers

Yes that’s correct. Lucien has agreed it is easiest that you pay the full amount cash or card at the Escatel as usual. Once I know you have safely arrived I will refund your deposit in GBP so no exchange rate issues or fees.

Please provide account details by email, text or pm so I can set up the return payment.

Well...all 6 of us got there and back in our own cars. As normal the GTA was the sick car of the trip, but still got home and completed the event itself fine (see my other thread in projects if you are interested). It was also the oldest....
We counted 17 new 110's taking part...not many GTA/610's this year. About 190 cars...maybe a bit down on last year...the weather won't have helped either as we had hail and snow. One Saab 96 was a bit of a wild card for this event as was the Renault 4 van...and Lancia Stratos (a kit).
We took a taxi up to the gala dinner which meant the food and drink were enjoyed by us all too, hopefully we can be back up to strength for next year.

If you want to see all my pictures they are here...

But here are a few....

Thanks to everyone for the company (and to Phil and John for some of these pictures).

Hopefully this will encourage a few more back for next year...

It remains a great event in my mind and for me at least, one of the best driving opportunities of the year - magnificent roads are so much better than trackdays in my mind now. This was our 12th consecutive visit and aside from some of the French core supporters, I suspect is up there in terms of attendance records for long-distance visitors - my spider almost knows where the routes go these days. We look forward to a bigger UK turnout next year for our 13th, but a big thank you to our fellow 2019 adventurers as we had a ball with you all, even if cold & snow in the Spider tried its best to annoy Mrs G :-)
