GTA V6 TURBO
CABRIOLET - GENUINE WOLFGANG PAHNHENRICH CONVERSION - Registered 1992
This is a very unusual and special GTA cabriolet conversion and
I'll try to explain the history that I have managed to collect over the last 3
and a half years of ownership.
There are a few GTA convertibles around and like
this one all are conversions of varying quality. This however is a genuine
Wolfgang Pahnhenrich conversion which is the closest thing to a factory approved
version. The car even features in the French book 'Les Renault Alpine GTA' which
is the GTA bible. Pahnhenrich was and still is a Franchised Renault dealer in
Germany that in the 1980's specialised in tuning and exotic conversions. A
prototype was originally made by the tuning firm as a design study for Alpine,
however the factory chose not to take up the design for production but
Pahnhenrich's work did inspire them to make their own A610 cabriolet prototype
which again unfortunately did not make it into production. It is believed that
there are around 10-12 genuine Pahnhenrich conversions of which around 5 or 6
have the extreme wide body conversion like this one which was an optional extra.
It measures exactly 2m wide wheel rim to wheel rim at the rear. The bodywork is
very slightly wider.
I have a photocopy of the original sales brochure
and the full conversion cost 36,500DM (18,000 euro) on top of the base price of
the car. And that doesn't include the special full leather Koenig interior
re-trim and seats that this car has. The total cost would have been in excess of
50,000 euro when new.
Records from the Alpine factory confirm that the
base car was an early Turbo (86 model) built in late 1985. It was then sent to
Germany for conversion. I still have the original German logbook (see
photos) and the car was not registered until 18/09/1992. We can only presume
that the car was on display in a showroom or that the conversion was not fully
completed until this time. It was TUV tested in 1997 and then exported from
Germany to the United Kingdom on 18/09/1998. The fact that the car has a special
Koenig interior (which I have not seen on any other conversion) and that it was
unused and/or on display for 6 years leads me to believe that it may have been
the very first conversion and showroom car, but I cannot confirm this. It
certainly has every option including the very rare rear spoiler.
It was first MOTd in the UK on 18/10/1999 and first
registered in the UK on 23/12/99. The mileage at the time was 24557km
(15271miles). It was then sold to a lady in Berkeley in May 2000 who hardly
drove it. I was the next owner in 2005 and the current mileage is still only
27000km (16,777miles).
Importantly the car is of course Left Hand Drive and
is currently in London, United Kingdom approx 100km from the Eurotunnel
terminal.
There are various reports suggesting that the car
has an enlarged version of the V6 turbo engine (2.9l instead of 2.5l) and/or has
other modifications to increase the power output to 260bhp. However other than
an adjustable boost dial in the centre console I can see no evidence to support
this, however obviously I haven't inspected the engine internals. It should
therefore be assumed that the output is the regular 200bhp +- 20bhp for the
bleed valve.
My understanding is that this Koenig kitted car is
one of the best conversions out there and if you are a fan of late 80's excess
and extreme wide body conversions then this may be the car for you. It has
covered less than 17,000 miles from new, is left hand drive and has TUV
accreditation in Germany so I imagine it will be exported.
If the car stays here in the UK there is the option
of the registration J111 GTA which is currently held on retention.
Wheels are genuine BBS 3 piece split rims. 8J x 15
front and 11J x 15 rear. The car is fitted with new rear tyres 345/35/15 Pirelli
PZERO (Lamborghini Countach size). I have had the metal frame for hood shot
blasted and zinc galvanised and a new fabric hood has been made (due to a split
in the window and roof) but have not re-fitted it yet.
There is virtually no wear (due to lack of use) to
the interior trim but there is a small split in the drivers seat side cushion.
This is unfortunately due to shrinkage of the leather over time. The rear 3/4
trim panels are also in the process of being re-trimmed due to some water damage
when the hood was left down. The dashboard, centre console, steering wheel and
sun visors are also trimmed in burgundy leather to match the seats.
The paintwork is all good with the exception of some
very minor crazing in one or two places and a small area of damage to the rear
bumper (1 inch) but again this is hardly noticeable.
The last time I took the car out it drove OK with
no major problems.
There is a similar car on ebay.fr at the moment for
35,000 euro but it is an S&K tuning conversion not a genuine Pahnhenrich. I have
seen other cars for sale at 25,000 and 27,500 euro.

GTA V6 TURBO - Probably
the best standard car in the country.
Stunning condition GTA V6 Turbo for sale.
Manufactured late 1986 (early type with flat bonnet), first registered in
January 1987. In GTA Rouge Supergloss 075, with factory option black leather
interior, must be considered one of the finest examples in Europe.
I have owned this car for
nearly 10 years. It was taken of the road in October 2001 and I carried out an
extensive restoration. The car was completed in September 2005. Since then it
has covered just 2548 miles and has lived a pampered garaged life, making
appearances on sunny dry days. In 2006 it was one of the top cars at the
International French Car Show. In 2008 it was awarded best 80's car at World
Series Renault, Silverstone. It also won the overall best in show. During
November 2008 it was on display at the NEC Classic Car Show (on the shows main
sponsor stand - Meguiar's), having been chosen as one of the sixteen best show
cars in the country.
History - The car was
sold new by the Old Oak Motor Group of Enfield, one of only a handful of genuine
approved Renault Performance Centre’s back in the mid 80's. It has covered 85901
miles from new and has service history. It's taxed and MOT'd until September
2009.
All electrics work,
original Philips Hi-Fi system with fingertip control, original plip transmitter,
windows, central locking, mirrors, interior light, dashboard dimmer etc. All
gauges work correctly, temp, oil, speedometer, rev counter, fuel gauge/trip
computer etc.
Interior trim is first
class; carpets/mats have been replaced throughout.
Most mechanical parts
have been renovated or replaced using genuine Renault parts, far too many to
list. No expense spared, many thousands spent on a thorough ground up
restoration. Bodywork preparation and paint by leading Mercedes Benz coachwork
specialist, (undertaken as a “special project” by ex-Lotus trained employees) -
cost over £3300. Result is a superb glass like finish, totally blemish free in
original colour.
The car drives like new;
engine pulls hard and is very sweet. Sound is glorious from the Mecaparts
(French Alpine Specialist) stainless exhaust system. Engine is standard and has
not been tuned, or abused. As part of the restoration a new original spec turbo
(supplied by turbo technics) was fitted with a 360 degree thrust bearing for
improved long-term reliability.
Brakes are Rossini
standard size disks running EBC green pads for extra bite.
Shocks are Koni direct
replacement with adjustable rebound facility.
Original turbo alloys,
stove enameled to very high standard. Fitted with correct factory size tyres,
(255x45x15) rear (Yokohams) and (195x50x15) front (Toyo Proxes). Tread almost as
new (on all four tyres).
Unfortunately now parting
with car due to raising capital for business venture, will be sad to see it go
after 10 very enjoyable years of ownership.
Currently the car is
insured for £8900 (approved/agreed through Lancaster insurance) as independent
true open market value. I am looking for offers over £8250 reflecting its
outstanding condition. Only serious Renault Alpine enthusiasts apply please – it
must go to someone who will appreciate its condition.
Also included in the sale
is a new red fleece lined interior car cover, plus hard copy of mechanical and
bodywork manuals/parts listing and electrics manual. Original owner’s handbook
also included.

GTA
V6 TURBO - PROJECT NOW BREAKING
The car was garaged for nearly 10 years after the accident and
before we bought it. The engine is very sweet and importantly the thing
is drivable. Included in the sale is a replacement donor front end with all the
bits needed. The missing/damaged panels are included in red.
You will need the main headlight units, (brackets are present) and headlamp
glasses, plus a bit of labour and a re-spray (roof needs doing too). Some minor
bits too like bonnet hinges.
The car is in excellent condition apart from the obvious. It'll need a good
service, incl some time on the brakes which tend to bind. The tyres are flat
spotted.
Looking for around £2500 which is what it owes us.

hundred miles since MOT. Alpine badged. Immobiliser fitted. Stunning bodywork,
professionally resprayed a few years ago to a very high standard. No scratches,

Due to unforseen circumstances I am having to sell
my Renault Alpine GTA V6 Turbo which I have had for approx 3 years. It is a
particularly clean car with a fully documented history and therefore hopefully
one for a club member. The car is absolutely standard and has a stamped up
Renault service history booklet, it has just turned over 100,000 and everything
electrical is in full working order along with the computer and the heating
system. I want £5,500 for her and she needs nothing as she has just been fully
MOT'd and serviced.

GTA V6 TURBO

everything works though service light stays on intermittently (has always done
this in the three years I have had the car), fuel computer is inaccurate and
